If you can brave the brisk North wind the rewards for a walk to Four Barrows have been rich this week. The sheer number of birds feeding in the fields boggle the mind with thousands of starlings, many hundreds of fieldfares and hawthorns brimming with redwings. As with any gatherings on this scale the predators have also been attracted and both kestrels and sparrowhawks are active on the downland hunting the large flocks.
