Redwings many passing over in small flocks this afternoon and into the evening - listen out for the high-pitched pseep (Matt Best)
Ivy bee many of these lovely bees along the Green towards High Town and at the top near the church. These are the UKs latest solitary bee in the year and are the only true autumn bee in the UK. Amazingly these beeautiful insects were first described to science only 30 years ago and we are lucky to have large numbers buzzing about and feeding on ivy flowers on the green (Emily Best)

Try reading the Nature Notes on oil beetles and using the buglife ID guide to check that we do not have any of the other species around Aldbourne (and if you are adventurous see if you can spot any mining bees - the Ashy mining bees are coming out in good numbers now - google them as they are confiding and recognisable - also they do not sting).
